Job Description

SMG (Service Management Group) is looking for a hands-on Network & Infrastructure Team Lead with networking and cloud infrastructure skills to manage a Data Center to lift and shift to the cloud!

As Team Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Data Center, as well as designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, and ensuring the security and compliance of our cloud environment. Manage and support our current on-prem network and infrastructure.

✅ Your day-to-day work: 

The role of Network & Infrastructure Team Lead has the following responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Azure, and other cloud technologies.

• Networking skills in Cisco and F5, with on-prem and hybrid working experience

• Implement security and compliance best practices in the cloud environment
• Research and evaluate new cloud technologies and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production incidents as needed. (24-7 in charge of managing a 2-person team for net & infra, not application)
• Help execute a cloud migration to Azure from on-premise datacenters

• Work with stakeholders to identify requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.

• Collaborate with developers and operations teams to optimize application performance and availability.

✅ Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure design and implementation

• 5+ years of Networking experience
• Strong knowledge of Terraform, Azure, and other cloud technologies

• Cisco certifications preferred

• Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash.

• Experience mentoring and leading junior team members.
• Strong knowledge and experience using configuration and infrastructure management tools (Octopus Deploy, Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps).

• Previous experience as Senior Network Systems Administrator
• Strong knowledge of load balancers, networking and URL routing.
• Strong knowledge and experience with commonly used cloud infrastructure and patterns.
• Advanced knowledge and experience working in physical, virtual, and “cloud” environments.
• Advanced knowledge and experience configuring and maintaining application monitoring/trending tools (Prometheus, ELK Stack, and Grafana).

• Experience with containerization and container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Advanced knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.

• Understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile.

• Familiarity with security and compliance with best practices in the cloud environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
