Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our organization as the Head of Platform Engineering. As the Head of Platform Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled engineers to design, develop, and maintain our organization’s platform infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction, architectural design, and scalability of our platform to support the growth and success of our business.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

• Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to the platform engineering team.
• Develop and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for the platform infrastructure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical strategies with business goals.

Platform Development and Maintenance:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable platform services.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of the platform infrastructure.
• Drive continuous improvement of the platform, keeping up with industry trends and best practices.
• Team Management:
• Manage and mentor a team of platform engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and career development opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting innovation, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
• Recruit and onboard top engineering talent to expand and strengthen the team.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams, to ensure smooth integration and delivery of platform services.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts, plans, and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Excellence:

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on the platform infrastructure.
• Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and engineering methodologies within the team.
• Ensure the use of appropriate tools, frameworks, and technologies to achieve efficient and effective development and maintenance processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in platform engineering, including design, development, and maintenance of large-scale platforms or distributed systems.
• Proven leadership experience, leading and managing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background in areas such as cloud infrastructure, microservices architecture, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient in programming languages like Java, Python, or similar.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services.
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and data storage concepts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
